Worth knowing about OUZO 12
Everything about the original from Greece
The success secret lies in the careful, elaborate manufacture: OUZO 12 is a distillate from a composition of Greek seeds, herbs and spices. Beside anise, selected herbs and spices such as coriander, fennel, nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon and mastic, the aromatic resin of the pistachio trees, are used. Only natural ingredients are used, artificial aromas are not included. With OUZO 12, the use of twice as many seeds, herbs and spices as usual makes for a particularly nuanced and mild taste.
Alcoholic beverages based on anise have traditionally in almost all Mediterranean countries. However, genuine Ouzo comes exclusively from Greece and is officially recognized by the EU as a "product with a regionally typical brand name". In contrast to the Ouzo, similar alcohol beverages with anise, e.g. Turkish raki or oriental arak, flavored only with aniseed. The French pastis also contains ginger extracts which ensure the characteristic yellow color. These drinks are among the aperitifs. Also the Italian Sambuca and the Spanish Anisette have an anise base. With a sugar content of over 30%, they are among the liqueurs.
And how is OUZO 12 stilecht served? The answer is quite simple: just as it tastes to the friends or to one's own taste. Greeks prefer to dilute their Ouzo with water for a softer taste ("Ouzo me nero") or refreshing with ice ("Ouzo me parakia"). In Germany it is best to drink pure ("Ouzo sketo"). The "Louche effect" is interesting to the eye: mixed with ice water and ice, the drink is milky, refreshing and has a softer taste.
Aperitif or Digestif? The Greek national drink is the unique all-rounder of the drinks: you can serve it without fear of a break before the food is ready - and of course afterwards. Chief, he is enjoyed with good friends.
